THIS AND THAT – JANUARY 12

COLORADO'S "TOASTED" NUTS

Colorado voters already agreed to legalize marijuana. NOW legislation is Colorado is has been introduced to allow 18-21 to drink in bars and restaurants as long as parent(s) are are accompanying them. Identification proving "parenthood" must be made available on request. RALLY?

MY SOLUTION TO 18 V. 21

My solution to all the bullshit argument for allowing 18-21 year-olds to do what over 21 year-olds can do? You know, the one that goes "you can
die for your country at 18 but you can't ___. Here substitute "drink at a bar" (see above). I propose making 21 the minimum age for military service and that will end it. I'm tired of fucking hearing that idiotic liberal comparative argument. "You're old enough to die at 18 why don't we just shoot you then and get it over with."

BASEBALL'S HOF VOTE

Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens Sammy Sosa, and Mark McGwire all received less than 38% of the vote for induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame in their first year of eligibility (75% is needed for election). It wasn't a surprise but the fact that NO ONE on the list this year received enough votes for induction. The list also included Craig Biggio (the highest vote-getter at 68.2%), Curt Schilling (38.8%) and Mike Piazza (57.8%). The only other years in which no player was elected were 1945, 1946, 1950, 1958, 1960, 1971 and 1996. More from ESPN on the vote.

OBAMA STATEMENT

President Obama made remarks today to the effect that the mission in Afghanistan has been and will be successful in ensuring that the Taliban can never use Afghanistan again. Riiiiight!

TEBOW'S "TIME" IS OVER?

The newly appointed GM of the Jacksonville Jaguars state categorically they will not take Tim Tebow even if the Jets release him. A Jets' Special Teams coach recently said he suspected [when he arrived in New York] Tebow would be used in various roles but THEY NEVER DID IT! It appears NO ONE is interested in Tebow right now. There are at least two teams with QQB problems. The guy won 7 games will Denver and defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in the playoffs. He's GOT to be worth a try somewhere.

FROM GLENN BECK'S THE BLAZE  WHO'S THE BIGGER WEASEL GOP OR ESPN?

“You tell me the bigger weasel: GOP or ESPN?” Glenn asked this morning.

While Pat went with the GOP, Stu and Jeff voted ESPN. Here’s why:

Monday night, during the BCS National Championship football game between Alabama and Notre Dame, ESPN announcer Brent Musburger made a few comments over the good looks of Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron’s beauty queen girlfriend.

While Musberger's comments were neither vulgar or offensive, ESPN felt the need to apologize on his behalf, even after McCarron’s girlfriend [Katherine Webb] said she was flattered by the statements and that an apology was not necessary.

The Blaze reported on the comments following the football game:

Considering that Monday night’s college national championship game between Alabama and Notre Dame was dominated by Alabama, there weren’t many competitive highlights (‘Bama won 42-14). So easily the talk of the night has become the way ESPN announcers Brent Musburger and Kirk Herbstreit fawned over the stunning girlfriend of Alabama’s quarterback AJ McCarron.

“You quarterbacks, you get all the good-looking women,” Musburger said, directing the comment at Herbstreit who is a former quarterback himself. “What a beautiful woman.”

That’s offensive? Apparently if you’re ESPN they are, who made a statement earlier this week that the comments went “too far.”

What exactly did ESPN expect to happen during a game that was 28 to 0 at the half with Miss Alabama in the stands? You can only talk about Notre Dame’s pathetic attempts to slow Alabama down for so long.

“ESPN is a guy channel,” Glenn said. “I mean, has everyone at ESPN been castrated?”

To support Bret's statement I present Exhibits A and B:

          Tom Brady's girlfriend.
    Tim Tebow's girlfriend.

He ain't lyin'.

Take it and go.
